Rickenbacker 620-12 Demo - Tambourine Man Posted by: halberthawkins
Video duration: 245 seconds Demonstrating the new pickups on a song learned today with a very hastely prepared backing track. I'm not really a huge Byrds fan but I thought this song would be great to show off the sound of these new toaster pickups. Sounds great! Sounds really great...thanks for doing the demo. Enjoyed it.

@Teejay84 Admittedly, the thought did occur to me. Though I didn't really intend this as a side by side comparison, only a demonstration of the guitar after the mod and reasonably processed. There was no amp involved in this but I did run it through an old solid-state amp for a second in the other vid. I will give the hi-gains on the 360 and the 330 a good showing soon. They sound great too. More mid-range and somewhat hotter.

In my opinion to tell you the truth, this demo is deceiving if you want to show people how the toaster pickups sound. I have both to compare, high gains and toaster sand there is not such BIG difference between them if you don愒 carry with a strong compression like yours. I must say that the BIG difference between them is provided by the amp you are using, the equalization (mid-lows and highs) and the strings also.

@Painkill3r4 Thanks for the kind words. I think the combination of a JangleBox and the toasters should work out rather nicely. I don't have a JangleBox, but instead I used a software 5 band compressor and really not as much compression as it might seem. I should try comparing the sound of the 620/12 with the toasters to the 360/12 with the high gains and the same settings.

Wow! What a difference from the high gains. I'm definitely going to be ordering the toasters from Rickenbacker. I have the Janglebox that I put my 360/12 through and, while it's ok, it just doesn't quite get the jangle the toasters do. Thank you for taking the time to post this. And, by the way... it sounded pretty decent to me especially with such short notice! ;)
